Leadership Team

Dr Benjamin Hadikusumo

Managing Director

Founder & CEO, The Shrink Company
Adjunct Associate Professor, Bond University
MB.ChB (Auckland), MHSc (Sydney), FRANZCP

Hello and welcome to The Shrink Company. I’d like to introduce my team and I, and to present what The Shrink Company is and what it stands for, and what you can come to expect from us. Although I do oversee much of the operations of The Shrink Company, I am not an office executive sitting behind a desk – I believe that to remain relevant one needs to be on the ground to understand the real world. And I do, because I am first and foremost a clinician myself.

The Shrink Company is a multidisciplinary private practice located in Tweed Heads, Murwillumbah, Gold Coast and Brisbane. I do have a special interest in chronic psychosis, and I am proud that we run one of the largest private Clozapine Clinics in the country, and a unique Depot Clinic for those on long-acting injectable medications.

I have an underlying interest in research and have published several peer-reviewed journal articles. I am currently working on a new study in the area of chronic psychosis. I am an adjunct staff at Bond University and have an academic appointment within the university. I am currently working collaboratively with Headspace Tweed Heads and provide specialist psychiatric support for them.

I am in many ways old-fashioned, and consider myself as ‘direct’ in the course of my clinical practice. I don’t fully subscribe to the notion of political correctness, as I believe that when it comes to your health and wellbeing, you deserve the truth – not some sugar-coated, down-played version.

That is why we called ourselves The Shrink Company. We do not have a back entrance. We are in the business of Mental Health and we are not ashamed of it. We are proud of our identity, and we want our patients to be proud of theirs too. Because in the end, everybody needs a shrink – some people just don’t know it yet.
